I only have a few Garden Items - is it something I can
really use. |

Certainly. Track where your plants came from as well as when, the cost,
when you last fertilized – you decide what you’d like to track!
Track Growth, Watering, Cuttings, etc. Keep track of special moments
such as when it bloomed the first time. Information will be stored for
years - there is the real value in the program - the history you will have
at your fingertips.

| I run a small
nursery. How can the Program help me?
|
|
You can keep track of certain lines
of plants/flower/trees you buy or grow and sell. Sales could
reference back to a particular
garden item. Using the advanced functions you could
make multiple Garden Sets (Multiple files each containing a collection of Garden Items).
You might use this for example if you had two nurseries or perhaps
you wanted to keep some of your personal plants separate from the nursery’s plants. The flexibility is
there for you. That’s the point.
|
| I show my flowers. How can it help
me?
|
| Track the shows that each flower
has been in as well as awards won. Create reports on the history of
that particular flower or all the flowers that you show. |
| I'm
an experimental grower - can I use it? |
|
Sure
- it would be great for that. Track the history of certain
lines of your plants or flowers. Great for comparisons later as to what process
worked best. |
| I don't understand the relationship of
Activities and Garden Items. |
| Each Garden
Item has their own set of activities. Let's say that you have defined 3 Activities – Fertilizer,
Growth and Pruning. Let's also say you have 2
Garden Items – Himalayan Fir -1 and Rosenshale - 1. In this case, then Himalayan
Fir -1 has its own set of the 3 activities (Fertilizer, Growth and Pruning)
and Rosenshale - 1 has its own set of the 3 activities (Fertilizer,
Growth and Pruning). When you enter information in the Growth
activity for example, you are either entering it for either
Himalayan Fir -1 or Rosenshale - 1. If the currently
selected Garden Item was Himalayan Fir -1 and the activity selected was Pruning, then it
would show all of the Pruning for Himalayan Fir -1. Now
switch to Rosenshale - 1 and choose Pruning to see all the Pruning
for Rosenshale - 1. In either case if you want to add information,
just make a new entry. It's very simple. |
| Oh, my - won't this require a lot of
space? |
| Space is determined by the
amount of information you use, but after the initial installation (about
20 megabytes) incremental size requirements are very small. A typical
Garden Set of 10-15 Garden Items might be 1 to 2 megabytes. |
| How are the Master List items different from the Garden
Activities? They seem similar and I have trouble distinguishing between the
two. |
|
Master List items relate
to the current Garden Set and not to any particular Garden Item. They
belong to all Garden Items in that Garden Set. By contrast Garden
Activities belong to a particular Garden Item.
Let's say that you have a Master List Item
called Internet Links. In this list, you have the name of several web
sites - ( Forestfarm, RJ's Plant Supply, etc). Since this is a Master List
item it doesn't matter which Garden Item is the current one, the
Internet Links always show the same web sites.
Let's say you also had a Garden Activity named Internet Links. In this
one, you would have the Links for web sites that apply only to the
currently selected Garden Item - such as a web site that specializes in
Weeping Junipers. In other words - does the
information (Internet Links in this case) belong to the whole file (Master
List Items) or to individual Garden Items (Garden Activities). This
illustration uses Internet Links, but the same concept could apply to many
other situations. Probably you have some special situation yourself.
That's what is nice about Debit Square - For Gardens - you can
customize it to suit your needs. |
| The picture of the program on the Debit Square - For Gardens - main web page shows a lot of
screens open. That seems complicated. |
| This is just for
illustrative purposes. The picture on our web page and in the manual just
shows most of the screens of the program open at once. Normally,
you'll just have one or two screens open at a time. |
